Step by step towards zero carbon neighbourhoods
PED StepWise a three-year project funded by the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership (DUT), which aims to develop a participatory step-by-step implementation plan for zero carbon neighbourhoods in existing urban areas.
We believe that in times of climate change and the energy crisis, the transition to independent and sustainable energy sources is crucial. The transformation of existing neighbourhoods is a challenging but necessary process that can only succeed through joint efforts and strategies. We want to take this journey step by step, develop solutions and work towards a successful energy transition.
The three Urban Living Labs of PED StepWise are located across the three cities Vienna, Malmö and Utrecht and exhibit significant spatial and structural diversity, as well as distinct ownership structures. Drawing on insights from these three living labs, we aim to develop, evaluate, and ultimately implement the participatory step-by-step implementation plan.
The consortium of PED StepWISE comprises three cities: Vienna, Malmö, and Utrecht, each hosting one Living Lab. The expertise within these teams covers a wide range of fields, including:
energy and technology
financial assessment
organizational processes
participatory processes
Furthermore, each Living Lab is represented by a member within the consortium.
